Vin Bin
Ok, so I really shouldn't be doing this, but I was so excited about my experience that I had to share. I recently attended a wine and cheese pairing course taught by Rick Lombardi and left there full of good wine and even better cheese. Rick runs a little shop in Marlboro, MA called The Vin Bin and it's fabulous in every way. I tried a lot of European cheeses that I never thought I'd ever try. One of them was a cheese called Robiola and it's made from cow and sheep milk. It comes from Piedmont, Italy and it smells like raw oysters mixed with raw sewerage..Yes, I'm serious..But as all cheese connoisseurs know, the stinkier the cheese, the better. Then I also tried my staple, goat cheese. Anything with goat cheese is delicious, so I was thrilled to be trying TWO different kinds. My favorite of the night had to be the 7 year aged Cheddar. Delicious! Then to top it all off, try mixing these cheeses with marmalades, such as Pear & Honey, Fig, Blueberry and Apricot. I may have to pay a visit to Mr. Lombardi shortly and have a wine and cheese party of my own..The Vin Bin also offers wine tastings every Friday night and cheese tastings daily. I will be incorporating all I learned about wine and cheese pairings into my tasting events! Remember, stinky cheese equals good cheese!!
Daily Wine Tidbits
So you know that indentation at the bottom of wine bottles? That thing actually has a name and it's called the "punt". Could be used for storage purposes or for your waiter or waitress to grab onto while they're pouring..Or it's there because the glass blower put it there..but the real reason it's there is for any excess sediment to fall down and seep into the edges of the bottle. Interesting, huh?

Hi. Nice to meet you.
Hi fellow bloggers and curious friends. I am Stefany Flynn. I am a wine enthusiast, lover of life and an observer of those times with friends and family that pass us by all too quickly. I started this blog to share my experiences with wine travels, the wines themselves, and everything in between. I tend to believe that there is a link between relationships and an excellent wine. I am also a wine tasting consultant and am constantly educating myself and others with the joys of the wine lifestyle. I would love to connect with other wine enthusiasts and share our experiences. I will be posting as often as possible and can’t wait to get started on my business and personal ventures. Wine tasting is a fabulous idea for parties, showers, bachelorettes and just for fun! If you live in the Massachusetts area and would like to find out more, please take a look at my website, www.myttv.com/stefany13690. Also, find me on myspace to share ideas at www.myspace.com/flynntravelingvineyard. Cheers and off I go!

The Best Words of Wisdom Ever Spoken

I like to think about the life of wine, how it's a living thing.I like to think about what was going on the year the grapes were growing, how the sun was shining that summer or it it rained... what the weather was like. I think about all the people who tended and picked the grapes, and if it's an old wine, how many of them must be dead by now. I love how wine continues to evolve, how every time I open a bottle it's going to taste different than if I had opened it on any other day. Because a bottle of wine is actually alive --it's constantly evolving and gaining complexity. That is, until it peaks --like your '61 --and it begins its steady, inevitable decline. And it tastes so fucking good.
